On Wednesday February 3rd, Legendary Bingo night at Hamburger Mary's raised $1,500 to benefit The Niapele Project. It was a packed house at this fun event and good times were had by all.

School Nutrition Initiative - Update from the field

I've finally made it to Liberia, and visited the Carolyn A. Miller school (CAMES) in Paynesville, a suburb of Monrovia, yesterday. The school is tuition-free, and provides one of the only alternatives for vulnerable children whose families cannot afford to send them to school otherwise. CAMES offers education from kindergarten to 10th grade - some students in the higher grades are young adults who never had a chance to complete their primary education during the war.

First week of the School Nutrition Initiative

On October 1 2009, The Niapele Project and its partner the Carolyn Miller School began serving meals to the school's students. Following months of hard work and determination on the part of the school and our staff on the ground (Megan and Henry), we're really happy to bring you this exciting news!

Currently, the program is serving 332 students, teachers and staff:

The "Paint for Food" event at Raw Canvas in Vancouver was a huge success! Thank you to all those who came out to support the School Nutrition Initiative - we had over 70 people in attendance, and raised about $4,000!

Funds raised will go towards providing tens of thousands of meals to the students of the Carolyn A. Miller School in Monrovia.

On September 24th 2009, The Niapele Project and Raw Canvas are hosting “Will Paint for Food”, a unique evening of painting, music and entertainment. Between 5:30 pm and midnight, guests will be raising funds to provide daily meals to 600 vulnerable school children in Liberia who benefit from The Niapele Project’ School Nutrition Initiative.
