Friends of Liberia Visit HapFam
In the Fall of 2010, the Happy Family Center for Children with Disabilities, a Niapele partner, received a grant for $2000 from Friends of Liberia. The grant was meant to build a well and a hand-pump for the Center, as well as fence to surround it.
President of Friends of Liberia Stephanie Vickers and representative Joan Hamilton visited HapFam to check on their progress and to meet the staff and students of the Center. Friends of Liberia, founded by former Peace Corps volunteers, supports community-based development in Liberia. As such, they provide grants to small organizations like HapFam, enabling these community efforts to succeed.
The Niapele Project is very grateful for the financial support of Friends of Liberia. We look forward to working together to support sustainable grassroots, community-led efforts.
